What Is A Life Change Event
Usually, employees are not permitted to make changes to their benefits enrollment or plans during the plan year. They must save changes for the open enrollment period in September. However, qualifying life events may permit you to make changes to your plan mid-year. These events include:
- Birth or Adoption
- Change In Spouse's Employment Status
- Death of Spouse/Dependent
- Divorce
- Marriage
- Initial Onboarding
- Promotion to Full-Time from Part-Time
- Loss of Coverage Due to BJI Eligibility Terms
- Termination of Employment
Navigate to the Benefits Section of UKG
Open UKG and navigate to the home page. Scroll down to "My benefits". Select the Life Change Event button. You can return to this area anytime to view the full benefits guide, revise beneficiaries, or view plan details.
Starting a new life change event is not required during the open enrollment period.Employee Open Enrollment Steps
- From the Life Change Event popup that opens, select the date of the event, not today's date, and then the type of event.
- Select Save
- Complete the life change event questionnaire, answering questions and selecting Submit.
- You may be prompted to select a plan to change.
- In the Instructions section, read all applicable instructions, then select Continue.
- In the You and your family section, you will see a list of dependents that are currently included in your employee profile.
- Select Continue to move to the plan options.
Some plans may not be available to you based on your employment status.- In the Plan section, view the plan information and select the plan you wish to enroll in, or select Decline/waive to decline this coverage. Use the Review Plans option to compare up to three plans. Select Continue.
As your benefit selections are made, your choices will appear in the shopping cart experience view. This view shows your selected plans, total amounts you will pay, any declined plans, and total employer contributions. Retirement, Aflac, Spot, and 529 plan contributions will always appear at $0 in the shopping cart. Amounts for these plans are determined later. - Continue selecting additional plan options that are available per your organization. Select Continue to pick a specific plan and move to the next plan type.
- In the Finish up section, make a final review of your benefit selections and make any edits. Select Submit and enter your system password.
- Select Accept to finalize your life change enrollment selections.
